Let's travel together on your road to manage your tailbone and back pain using the hoyb cushion.
The rather simple design of the patent pending hoyb contoured seating system allows the tailbone (coccyx) to be slightly elevated to reduce contact with your seat. The hoyb© is a firm apparatus that when used properly provides relief from coccydynia and sciatica. Whether your coccyx, lumbar and thoracic regions are affected due to a fall, pregnancy or prolonged sitting, the pain from coccydynia, sciatica and pilonidal abscesses will feel less intense with the use of the patent pending hoyb© design.
Coccydynia is pain on or around your coccyx or tailbone. Sciatica is pain in the lumbar and/or thoracic region in the back. Trauma, whether from a fall or an accident is the most common reason coccydynia becomes an issue in peoples' lives. However, pregnancy/child birth, prolonged sitting and even tumors can cause coccydynia. The tailbone may not even be fractured, only bruised. The pain is still severe and makes sitting extremely uncomfortable. Special attention is required for this area.
If sitting on a hard seat, use the smaller hoyb20© by sitting on it with curved section in the front and the open side facing the chair back cradling your tailbone (coccyx) for instant relief. The hoyb20© is light and portable enough to slip under your arm and carry discretely when going out to dinner, theater, sporting event. No hands needed!
If sitting on a soft sofa that provides little to no support, sit on the larger hoyb30© with the curved section in front and the open side to the back cradling your tailbone (coccyx) for instant relief. The larger hoyb30© frame provides extra support on an upholstered chair, a soft sofa or worn out car seat that may lack a firm substructure.
Coccydynia sufferers frequently experience tingling and/or numbness in their tailbone and leg region. If sitting on a single hoyb doesn't help with the tingling or numbness sensation, nest the hoyb20© in the hoyb30© aligning the labels on each. This will provide extra surface area to support your legs aiding in the blood flow to the coccyx and femoral artery. Stop using at once if tingling sensation worsens. There might be further blood flow restriction. We don't want to replace one problem with another...
Position 4 is for people who also suffer from back pain known as sciatica. Position the hoyb30© on your seat with curved section facing out and open end facing to the rear to provide coccydynia relief. But, before sitting, position the hoyb20© to "stand on end" with the open end facing down against the back of the chair. The positioning of the hoyb20© will aid in support of the sacral and lumbar vertebrae region.
Position 5 is for people who need extra support for the region higher than the lumbar region called the thoracic region. Simply switch the positions of the hoyb20© and hoyb30© placing the hoyb20© on the seat and the hoyb30© against the back of your chair open end facing down. This will provide support higher up the back in the thoracic vertebrae region.
A great deal of effort went into making the hoyb© light, portable and conspicuous without sacrificing firmness and utility. The hoyb© only works if you have it with you. People don't notice you carrying it and don't notice when you use it. I have been developing this for years and the hoyb© has come a long way from previous iterations. The easy air circulating design, the cool moisture wicking fabric that wraps tightly around the high density polyethylene layer encapsulating the rigid inner core will provide hundreds of hours of much needed support and hopefully give you a better quality of life. Over time, the hoyb© will gradually conform to your body making it even more comfortable. As a long time coccydynia sufferer myself, I'm rather obsessed with improving this project. Please feel free to reach out with suggestions, criticisms etc. by clicking on the contact button. For now, anyway, this is the best I can offer and I don't leave the house without the hoyb©!
